SHARE THE FLAME -The Official Retrospective Book of the Olympic Torch Relay
Alan’s first book and the one that launched his career as a bestselling author and speaker. He travelled some 6,000 miles (about 9,600 kms) with the Olympic flame (all of it at 3 mph/5 km/h) following the tens of thousands of torchbearers carrying Canada’s Olympic flame from St. John’s, Newfoundland, on the country’s east coast, to Calgary, Alberta (north of Montana) for the opening ceremonies of the 1988 Olympic Winter Games. “It was an adventure of a lifetime,” Alan recalls. “Magically, the Olympic flame burned off the conventionally quiet, conservative Canadian exterior and revealed the true heart of Canada underneath. It was powerful to watch.” Hundreds of breathtaking photos and inspirational vignettes. Unfortunately, it’s now no longer in print! But, if you ask nicely, Alan might be able to regale you with stories of the event. After all, he wrote 1,800 pages of them! (fortunately, the book’s only 224)
